Ten Panthers saw the first varsity action of their lacrosse careers, several of whom played in their first lacrosse game of any kind. They were cheered on by a boisterous, albeit small, student section willing to brave wind chills in the 20s on Friday night. The veteran leadership of Logan Mobasser (’19) and Gavin Gershman (’19) proved vital and inspired confidence in a predominantly young team. Several first-time lacrosse players, including Gavin Murphy (’21), made significant contributions. Charlie Rominger (’21) made some outstanding saves in cage, especially during the second half, and kept his defense focused during some long defensive stands, including an impressive 1-minute penalty kill. With no 2018 starting defensemen returning, PT put out Will Wallentine (’19), Michael Gibbs (’21), and Steph Douglas (’22) with longsticks, and all three justified their team’s trust in them. The Park Tudor goals came from Tate Surtani (’21) (3), Mobasser (’19) (2), Will Morris (’22), Gershman (’19), and Zach Aldridge (’20). The captains awarded the game ball to Wallentine. The Panthers return to play another home game on Tuesday night against Plainfield at 6:30.
