Game Recap

Park Tudor Middle School Soccer completed the league and cup double Thursday night with a 2-0 victory over Traders Point in the IISL tournament championship match on the varsity field. The combined boys and girls team got to celebrate lifting both trophies following a very closely-fought win and a season of hard work.

Marcus Kennedy scored both goals for the Panthers, finding the net in each half, both times on assists by Peter Dubie. Becky Williams, Owen Camferdam and Ahmed Athar combined to record a shutout in goal, while the defensive line combination of Zoë Paugh, Myles Nehrling, Alex Parrish, Will Morris and Harvey Lambert were once again air tight in the back.

Mr. Bogan set a policy that PTMS would field a true co-ed team through the tournament, and Coaches Cooper and Ziegler followed through, keeping the gender breakdown at 5 and 6 or 6 and 5 for every minute of the three matches. None of the Panthers’ opponents played more than two young ladies at a time. The team’s overall defensive effort was stellar, surrendering just one goal in three matches.

It was a total team effort, with every player on the roster getting into the action. Following are the members of the victorious team.

Meet Recap

Park Tudor ended its team run today losing to top ranked and undefeated Carmel 1-4. “We new we had to play flawless to give ourselves a chance, like a lot of teams we were trying to extend matches as long as possible…but in the end we lost to a better team but I was proud of the opportunity we gave ourselves. Obviously it was a great finish with our #1 doubles team playing to their potential and having a huge win over the top Carmel’s #1 doubles team that were also undefeated. I think that was an important win for our program and for our seniors Will and Drew who will advance next Friday and Saturday in the doubles individual tournament.” -Coach Gill #1 singles player Aidan Harris battled against last year’s State individual champion Fletchall, but lost in straight sets. #2 Karchi Ertl and #3 Alex Kim had the same result against an undefeated singles front for Carmel . The last match to finish was #2 doubles who fought back after losing the first set to serve for the match in the 2nd set but couldn’t close out. “It shows out improvement for #2 team of Liebross and Anderson to almost split with a team that beat them handily in their last meeting. I was really proud of thier fight after the match was decided.” Coach Gill

It was a great finish to the year for the Panthers, and will look to add an individual doubles champion next Saturday at Park Tudor

Results:
1. Harris lost to Fletchall 4-6, 2-6
2. Ertl lost to Thienemen 0-6, 0-6
3. Kim lost to Basavareddy 0-6, 0-6

1. Wiegel/Emhardt beat Michael/Dixon 7-5, 6-3
2. Liebross/Anderson lost Lomada/Lloyd 3-6, 5-7

Meet Recap

The Park Tudor Panthers were able to pull out a 3-2 win over Homestead in the Boys quarterfinals of the State Finals Tourney. It looked like the Panthers were going to get the victory a little easier when 4 out of the 5 courts were being led by Park Tudor, but Homestead took charge at the 3 singles spot winnning the first set in a tie-breaker and then their #1 singles player came back from being down 4-0 in the second set to send it to a 3rd set. The momentum had shifted, but Harris regrouped and never let down to clinch the deciding point with a dominant 6-1 set.

Scores:
1s Aidan Harris beat Hainey 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-1

Game Recap

Park Tudor advanced to the championship game with a 4-1 win that saw them miss out on several opportunities to score more goals.

Humza Raza opened the scoring with a hard shot on a rebound after Peter Dubie’s drive crashed off the crossbar. Raza added a 2nd later in the half, but Orchard cut the lead 2-1 with a nice goal just before halftime.

IN the 2nd half, Raza completed his hat trick and Oscar Stuart made it 4-1 before having his effort to score again denied by the Orchard goalkeeper, who made at least a dozen saves on the day to keep PTMS from scoring more.

Lucy Fuqueron in goal and midfield, Becky Williams, Ellie Rogers, Zoe Paugh and Stella Friskney also contributed strongly to the win, along with Sophia Davison, Caroline Hueni and Victoria Sullivan.

Will Morris was strong in defense for the Panthers, while Izzy Miroff and Isaiah Crafton played important midfield and attacking roles for the team. Park Tudor is now 9-2-1 overall.
