North Central High School (Indianapolis)
The #2 Park Tudor Panthers lose to #3 NC in the semi’s of State Finals in a very tight match coming down to the last match that went to a 3rd set. It was another battle between the two schools with Park Tudor coming up short this time but there was no shortage of drama and intensity.
Park Tudor was able to close out all three singles matches in the NC match two weeks ago, but this time around they could only win at #3 singles (Tewari). The other winning point came at #1 doubles (Katz/Emhardt) who got revenge on NC’s previously unbeaten pair of Tuerk/Prein. #1 singles Aidan Harris played a very sharp Ian Brady (NC) and couldn’t quite get his teeth into the match. #2 singles Drew Wiegel fought back after losing the first set and battled through some back pain but came up a little short losing in a close 3rd set.
The Coaching staff was very happy with how the team fought and represented Park Tudor athletics. We were also happy with the improvement in the doubles play. The #1 doubles getting the win and the #2 doubles playing some great doubles points but failing short against a strong performance from NC’s #2 doubles.
Park Tudor ends the 2016 season with a 19-3 dual record, hard lose today but great season!
The #1 doubles match featured two teams looking to continue their own run in the Individual Doubles State Championship with PT’s team ending NC’s run. Jaren Katz and Will Emhardt will continue on next Friday to play in the individual doubles tournament held at Park Tudor. Matches our scheduled for 2pm Friday and if they win they would play at 10am and 2pm Saturday for the Championship. Good luck Jaren and Will!
