The #2 PT Panthers took down #16 Avon HS tonight in a tough contested battle at Plainfield High School in the 1st Rd of Regional play. The weather was very comfortable but the match proved otherwise. This was the second year in a row the match was decided 3-2 and Avon showed their grit and toughness from the get go. The Panthers were able to steady themselves and had a big clincher at #2 doubles to win the match. I wish we would have competed better overall as a team and come out with more intensity at #1 and #2 singles, but I think that we will learn from this and move on and all credit to Avon’s players at those positions who didn’t give an inch and are very tough.
Wins for PT came 1st at #1 Doubles (Jaren Katz/Will Emhardt), then #3 singles (Vijay Tewari), and then the clincher at #2 Doubles (Alex Kim/Benton Wiegel). Next up for the PT Panthers will be Zionsville in the finals of Regionals back at Plainfield HS tomorrow around 5pm.
